As part of the elite racing action of the 2010 Epsom Handicap Day, Royal Randwick Racecourse will host the 2010 Flight Stakes on Saturday October 2 during the prestigious Sydney Spring Racing Carnival.
One of seven excellent group status races at the meeting, giving punters a thrilling day to look forward to in the Ladbrokes.com.au markets, the $300,000 Group 1 Flight Stakes (1600m) runs on the same day as the Group 1 Epsom Handicap (1600m), Group 1 The Metropolitan (2400m) and the Group 1 Spring Champion Stakes (2000m) as well as a number of other black type features.
Punters looking for an early guide for their 2010 Flight Stakes betting should watch the top performing fillies in earlier spring features including the Group 3 Silver Shadow Stakes (1200m), Group 2 Furious Stakes (1400m) and the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1500m)
Together these races make up the esteemed Princess Series of races that concludes with the Flight Stakes.
The 2010 Silver Shadow Stakes was held at Warwick Farm on August 21 and was won by Parables ahead of Solar Charged and Chance Bye, while the 2010 Furious Stakes is scheduled to run at Randwick on September 4 and the 2010 Tea Rose Stakes will take place at Rosehill on September 18.
The Tea Rose Stakes has in recent years produced nine of the past 11 Flight Stakes winners, making this the ideal preparatory race for punters to watch before jumping online and making their Flight Stakes betting selections at Ladbrokes.com.au.
The 2010 Flight Stakes final field of accepted fillies will be announced on Wednesday September 29 and published first here.
One filly that has been entered early for the Flight Stakes is the Stuart Webb-trained Yosei, while Peter Snowden’s Silver Shadow Stakes winner Parables will also continue on through the Princess Series culminating with a run in the Flight Stakes.
