Racing enthusiasts were out in full force today to check out the first Group 1 feature of the day at Randwick. They certainly weren’t disappointed as Secret Admirer shocked fans with a stunning come-from-behind win. Punters who backed the unlikely winner at $21.00 odds at Sportsbet will be very happy indeed.
The race jumped off with More Strawberries starting strong to take the early lead. Though it didn’t take long for her rival Parables to catch up. Tim Martin’s Sasa unfortunately had a slow start and dropped to the back. Despite a move on the inside toward the middle stages of the race, Sasa wasn’t able to make up enough ground.
More Strawberries and Parables continued to battle it out through to the home straight and it looked like it would be another Waterhouse win; however, the Grahame Begg-trained Secret Admirer dug deep. In a stunning sprinting display, the three-year-old chestnut filly moved from last place along the outside to steal the win from the two race favourites.
