Urban Groove Up To Mammoth 2012 Flight Stakes Test

October 5th, 2012

Urban Groove will attempt to remain unbeaten when she tackles the Group 1 Flight Stakes at Royal Randwick Racecourse tomorrow Saturday October 6, 2012.

The Charge Forward filly won her first start at Kembla Grange in a maiden before winning the Listed Reginald Allen Quality at Rosehill Gardens Racecourse last start.

Urban Groove will be looking to add to her current prize money of more than $70,000 when she lines up in the 2012 Flight Stakes tomorrow.

Jockey Nash Rawiller will be aboard the filly for the first time in the 2012 Flight Stakes and he is confident she can keep her flawless race record intact.

“She’s coming off a very impressive last start win in Listed company,” Rawiller said.

“She’s a filly that, as a two-year-old, showed us tremendous ability.

“We thought she was one of our best two-year-olds.

“She was plagued by an injury which put her out for 12 months but she’s come back in unbelievable order and she’s the sort of filly that can take the next step and win at Group One level.”

Urban Groove cracked her pelvis last November whilst being prepped for a run in the $2 million Magic Millions in january this year.

Trained by Gai Waterhouse at Royal Randwick, the three-year-old was purchased for $240,000 from the 2011 Magic Millions Sale on the Gold Coast.
