Yankee Rose has become the clear $1.85 favourite in 2016 Flight Stakes betting markets with Ladbrokes.com.au following the scratching of Omei Sword, ahead of the Gai Waterhouse-trained Global Glamour ($4.40).

Will Yankee Rose justify favouritism and win the 2016 Flight Stakes, or will one of her rivals post an upset?

1st

Yankee Rose ($1.85)

Group 1 winner Yankee Rose is undoubtedly the class horse of the 2016 Flight Stakes field and should just win the feature race. Posting two strong wins in Sydney sprints upon debuting late last year, Yankee Rose was given little chance of success in the Group 1 Golden Slipper (1200m) first-up this year but produced a huge turn of foot late to finish a close second. Posting a maiden and dominant win at the highest level in the Group 1 ATC Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m), Yankee Rose is sure to have taken plenty of benefit from her first-up run for sixth in the Group 1 Golden Rose (1400m) and will relish a return to fillies’ company.

2nd

Awoke ($6.50)

Awoke has produced several good performances through her short career so far and is more than worth consideration for a bet at current Flight Stakes odds. Taking out each of the Fin Aluminium Maiden (1150m) and TAB.com.au Handicap (1400m) upon debuting in winter, the daughter of Rip Van Winkle clearly required a run when resuming in the Group 2 Furious Stakes (1200m) on September 3rd, but performed well despite a luckless run in transit in the Group 2 Tea Rose Stakes (1400m) last time out.

3rd

Sezanne ($9)

Sezanne has returned to racing in particularly slick form this time and should find herself right in the finish of the 2016 Flight Stakes, and at great odds. Trialling well at Randwick in late July, Sezanne broke through for a maiden race win in the More Than Just Winning Maiden (1250m) first-up on August 10th. Repeating the dose in the TAB.com.au BM67 (1200m) three weeks later, the More Than Ready filly ran on for fourth in the Tea Rose Stakes last time out and will relish a step up to a mile in the Flight Stakes.
